BAKERSFIELD, CA – The “Hero Cat” who saved a young boy from a vicious dog attack in Bakersfield, California has been appointed deputy sheriff of Bakersfield.
“Tara” the cat, who has already thrown the first pitch at a Bakersfield Blaze minor league baseball game, will be appointed as the city’s deputy sheriff after locals and twitter followers petitioned the police department to make the appointment
Bakersfield Police Chief Greg Williamson made the appointment earlier today.
“I’m happy to to satisfy the public’s request” said Williamson at a press conference while holding a collar with a miniature badge. “I’m even happier to see a cat in a sheriff’s costume.”
At press time, Tara was being taken on a first ride-along and being trained to use a tiny glock handgun.
