OTTAWA – A new Environics poll indicated that fewer Canadians are expecting to live after they retire from their jobs.
47% of Canadians responded that they have little or no hope that they will ever have a chance to leave their unfulfilled, dead-end jobs alive. Another 38% said that they would probably drop dead on their last day of work.
“This data is not surprising,” said Environics analyst Marsha Rashid. “Several respondents indicated that they would still be working on their deathbeds somehow and paying off their children’s student debt and a second divorce.”
Only 10% of Canadians are preparing to work past their expiration as medical cadavers or high quality fertilizer to pay off debts from their funeral.
