WINNIPEG – The innovative meteorologists behind the term “Polar Vortex” and more recently “Chillahedron” and “Popsiclypse” are putting in overtime to come up with this Spring’s weather catchphrase.
“We’re getting very close to revealing the name we will use to refer to this year’s Springtime weather,” said Environment Canada’s head meteorologist Daniel Prout. “Just recently, we ruled out ‘Cylindrical Prismatic Pollen Tube’ and ‘Breezeniño,’ which were high in the running.”
Prout explained that his team of meteorologists will get back to researching the weather eventually, but at this time “it is more important that people have a buzz-worthy phrase they can use to describe seasonal weather.”
Prout and his team are responsible for past weather culture innovations such as Groundhog Day and the “feels like” temperature.
