QUEBEC CITY – With his formal duties as the mascot for Quebec’s Winter Carnaval 2013 complete, Bonhomme Carnaval (Good Man Carnival) has announced his next move will be a bid for the Bloc Québécois.
“The Bloc needs a leader who can get the job done and appeal to the youth vote,” Bonhomme told reporters in French from a press conference held outside his Ice Palace. “After I whip this party back into shape, Quebec’s separation will be my first priority, and next I will build an ice palace large enough to accommodate every French speaking Quebec child, and they will all get free hot chocolates.”
Critics are saying Bonhomme’s mission will be difficult since he will only be available seasonally, and his divisive stance against non-snowmen, as well as proposed laws forcing every citizen to dance and wear special decorative belts, could cost him dearly at the polls.
“My vision for a separate Quebec is also a vision of a paradise for snow people,” he said. “I will enforce year-round winter.”
The press conference ended as Bonhomme’s feet began melting into the ground.
