TORONTO – The Toronto Maple Leafs made a public statement today revealing that their friendship had, if anything, been strengthened by the team’s failure to make the playoffs for the past seven seasons, and that bonding between teammates is way more important in the long run.
“After that final loss to Montreal, Phil [Kessel], Tyler [Bozak] and I finally got a chance to really hang out for the first time in months,” said goaltender Jonas Gustavsson. “It reminded me why I play this game in the first place: to create long-lasting platonic relationships.”
When asked if they had any plans to watch the Stanley Cup Finals together, the Leafs said it depended on whether or not it would interfere with the team fishing trip at Dion Phaneuf’s family cottage.
