WINNIPEG – Remarking on the state of the music industry, self-described “Beatles maniac” Gilbert Planter told friends and co-workers that no real music has been produced by humanity before or since The Beatles.
“Let It Be dropped, and that was it for music,” Planter said. “People kept recording sounds on discs and selling them, but I wouldn’t call it music. Music’s what The Beatles played.”
When asked his opinion on such classical musical legends as Mozart and Bach, or contemporary visionaries such as Radiohead, Planter’s position remained firm. “I haven’t even listened to them, they’re so crap. Why would I, when I have Revolver sitting right there? Why would I eat a piece of broccoli when I could eat a steak?”
Planter went on to compare The Rolling Stones to a potato, Pink Floyd to a stalk of celery, and Led Zeppelin to a beet.
