PETERBOROUGH — Following the recall of a frozen berry blend potentially contaminated with hepatitis A, Costco is offering bulk packs of vaccines at a discounted price.
The 50-pack of hepatitis A vaccines usually costs around $60, but due to the circumstances, Costco is offering it at $45.99.
“That’s less than a dollar a vaccine before tax!” exclaimed Costco customer Marsha Wallace, filling her cart with several boxes. Ms. Wallace stated that she hadn’t actually been exposed to the possibly contaminated product, but was buying the vaccines anyway because of the “great savings”.
“I’ll just chuck them in my basement for now,” she explained.
Elsewhere in the store, a young man named Jeffrey Rossdale who had consumed the contaminated product was trying a free sample of the vaccine. “They ask you to only take one,” he said, “but I always sneak a few extra,” he concluded with a wink.
Another customer Brian Wexler said that although the current deal on the vaccines was good, he intends to hold out for an even better one. “I hear there’s going to be another price break at 3000,” he whispered. When asked if he was worried about falling ill to the disease, Wexler replied “I mean, I guess that’s the risk you run buying mass-produced food in bulk — but what’s a little Hep A when the prices are this reasonable?”
Outside the store, a group of students from a university charity group had gathered, hoping to purchase a pack of the vaccines to bring to an upcoming volunteer trip to Libya. Unfortunately, the deal is only available to Costco members.
