QUEBEC CITY — Just months after claiming an enduring partnership with Julie Snyder, Pierre Karl Peladeau has proven that separation can happen in Quebec.
“Despite our clearly defined mutual interests,” claimed Peladeau in French, “separation was not only possible, but desirable. I am a unique individual, who is quite different from Julie, and I feared my identity would be assimilated into hers. We did not share the same sense of humour, style, worldview or language on numerous matters. The more time we spent together, the more it was clear we were never going to be able to live together harmoniously.”
When asked what this meant in regards to the institution of marriage, Peladeau was adamant.
“I have never fully believed in unity,” Peladeau declared. “And despite what this may cost, financial dependence should never be the main reason for staying in a relationship.”
Analysts believe the mediation process will divide the assets between the two, roughly 50.6% to 49.4%.
Even after the separation, it is understood the couple would still have access to the same bank accounts, houses, transportation systems, and passports.
