Conservative civil servant has a deep mistrust in self

OTTAWA – A public servant for the federal government and card carrying Conservative Party member has a deep lack of trust in himself and the job that he works at.

Larry Carmichael states his strong libertarian principles, belief in small government and complete distrust in any government regulation makes him very uncomfortable with what he’s doing for a living.

“I’ve always doubted my role in government,” said the 45 year-old who works as a meat inspector for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. “I have the suspicion I might be looking out for my job security and pension rather than the interest of Canadians. I’m just not that necessary. If Canadians really wanted safe food, they would test for E. Coli in their own labs. I’m a small cog in the tax-and-spend machine.”

With only six years until his retirement, Carmichael said that his job should be eliminated entirely, which would save the taxpayers tens of thousands each year.

“And I really hope they reduce EI since I’ll probably just use it for drugs anyway,” added Carmichael.
