MONTREAL – The Quebec government is thanking its citizens for the uninspiring Canada Day celebrations that occurred throughout the province earlier this week.
“I want to take a moment to thank the Quebec public for their commitment to just barely celebrating this year’s Canada Day” announced Premier Philippe Couillard. “Your lack of effort did not go unnoticed. Leading up to this year’s celebration, firework sales were at an all-time low and Canadian flags at Dollaramas remain overstocked. I myself saw a young girl start to sing the National Anthem and then give up halfway through.
It brought a tear to my eye,” Couillard said choking back tears.
At press time, Couillard wanted to issue a special thank you to all Quebeckers who forwent the holiday entirely in favour of a classic July 1st Quebec tradition of helping someone move a dresser up a flight of stairs.
