THE INTERNET – What started as an effort to boost the morale of the activists who make up Wikileaks turned into a disaster Thursday when the details of the website’s Secret Santa gift exchange were leaked online.
“This was supposed to cheer everyone up in our offices, wherever they may be,” said an anonymous Wikileaks member who was revealed in the documents to be Graham Whitaker, 32, who lives with his mother in Rouen, France. “This leak has compromised the operational efficiency of our gift exchange.”
The identity of the leaker has yet to be revealed but sources inside Wikileaks have leaked that an investigation is ongoing.
“It is surprisingly difficult to find the mole in an organization made up entirely of leakers,” observed an anonymous Wikileaks member who looked remarkably like the Daniel Bruhl character from the Wikileaks biopic The Fifth Estate. “We’re on the case but, Big Ed Snowden is a little hard to reach these days.”
At press time, Julian Assange was locked in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London working out an explanation for why he was assigned to give a gift to himself.
