MONTREAL – In an unexpected roster move, the Green Party transferred Georges Laraque to the injured reserve list yesterday with a fraud accusation.
In a post-garden-visit press conference, Laraque expressed his dismay at the decision.
“I’ve been feeling good and was playing the political scene well,” he said, “so this is a disappointing setback. I’m hoping the team’s doctors can clear up these false allegations in time for me to help the boys win the by-election.”
Green Party Head Coach Elizabeth May was also saddened by this roster move.
“It’s a tough break,” she said in an interview with TSN. “We’ve been counting on Georges to put up serious minute but now he has this niggling fraud accusation slowing him down.”
“We just hope he’ll be back to political health in time for the next election.”
