Thetford Mines, PQ – This has been a big summer for Timmy Nolan, who kissed a girl for the first time, or so he plans on telling his friends.
Nolan, 10, bet his friends that this would be the summer he finally makes some progress with the ever-elusive opposite sex. Now, with only three days left before school, Nolan is locking himself in his room trying to name his conquest.
“I don’t know where I went wrong,” Nolan asked. “I did everything you see in the movies, I acted rich, negged her when we first met, pretended to be interested in her best friend, and punched the other boys at camp in the face. Nothing worked.”
“At least I was away at camp, so nobody knows what happened. I could have kissed a Patricia? or maybe a Amy? or Veronica? I just can’t decide which girl sounds like one who would kiss me.”
Nolan’s parent’s can’t decide what to make of this development. “We sent him to camp so that he’d develop some social skills,” said his mother, Tammy. “Now he’s holed up in his room making up girlfriends. What a waste of money.”
His father is less concerned. “If you can’t bond with people you’ll never meet again and make up stories to impress friends, what’s camp for?” he asked.
