“You just don’t remember Bob Rae,” lectures Ontario man who doesn’t remember Mike Harris

GEORGETOWN, ON – A local Ontario man giving a history lesson to younger voters about the dangers of electing an NDP provincial government has failed to recall what happened when a PC provincial government was elected.

“You kids just don’t remember Rae Days,” cautioned Steve Stanford to his 28-year-old niece Kendra Johanneson about a man who hasn’t been the premier for the past 23 years. “It was unpaid leave and wage freezes for civil servants whether they wanted it or not.”

Stanford lectured Johanneson about ’s poor handling of the provincial debt, while being unable to recall the Walkerton’s e. Coli outbreak that left 7 dead and hundreds sick in large part due to Harris’ policies of defunding, deregulation, and privatization.

“Rae’s affirmative action was just awful, and took away jobs from hard working white men,” scoffed the insurance adjuster who had an apparent case of amnesia for the thousands of nursing and healthcare jobs that were taken away under Rae’s immediate successor.

Stanford blamed the lack of knowledge about Bob Rae’s legacy on Johanneson’s primary school, which she could not attend for two weeks in 1997 due to a teacher’s strike over ’ proposed reduction in teacher preparation time and changes to local school boards.

The 52-year-old made further grumblings about Rae’s broken promise about making auto insurance public and continued to blame the healthcare system’s failings on the former premier, even when he broke his leg in 2001 and had to wait 12 hours in an ER waiting on a stretcher.

At press time, Standford said that his niece should vote for so his selective history wouldn’t repeat itself.
